Focus:
A critical issue in the provision of business education is balance and focus in order to meet the varying needs of undergraduate and graduate students. Business schools are often criticised for producing graduates long on technical know-how, but short on soft skills, such as communication, leadership, decision making, negotiation and conflict resolution, creativity and so on. So, the question now is: what should business school teach and how? If the business school is to be successful it has not only to be efficient in teaching but also in evolving and changing. In this Call for Submissions we are looking for groundbreaking and challenging works that address current issues in management education and development in both traditional and non-traditional instructional environments (i.e. e-learning, web base instruction). Proposals that explore theory and practice and that give support to innovative and creative perspectives are particularly welcome. We strongly encourage creative approaches to:
  • Theoretical and practical issues underlying management education itself.
  • Reframing course contents to satisfy the needs of the New Economy.
  • Strategies and teaching methods focused on the promotion of student's learning.
  • TQM in teaching/learning design.
  • Learning styles and teaching strategies.
  • Building effective links with the world of work; giving management students managerial experience.
  • The changing role of instructors and/or students.
  • Teaching hard and soft skills in both traditional and non-traditional instructional environments; different approaches to skill development.
  • Pros and cons of e-learning -faculty perspective. Reasons for using e-learning strategies.
  • Pros and cons of e-learning –students’ perspective. Students' satisfaction and perceived learning.
  • International cooperation and perspectives in management education.
  • The development of student motivation (and… of course, faculty motivation too.)
  • Issues surrounding assessment of learning.
  • Evaluating learning outcomes: quality of learning, cost-effectiveness of education, attitudes to learning, student performance and satisfaction…
The mission of this Special Issue on Management Education is threefold: to inform, to instruct, and to inspire. We hope to inform by providing descriptions of important concepts and practices of modern management education and development. We hope to instruct by describing new practical methodologies applications so faculty and instructors can take action on the ideas included. We hope to inspire by providing a real sense of unlimited and creative teaching and learning experiences. Learning about management education is a personal voyage that will last your entire lifetime.

Who May Submit:
Submissions are welcome from researchers, instructors, practitioners and trainers, as well as any others who are actively involved in management education and development.
Please identify your submission with keyword: MANAGEMENT
