Translating Literature and Learning Culture 
In teaching English as a foreign language (EFL) at college 
and university level, translation of literature in the native 
language of students into English provides unique learning 
opportunities beyond the extraordinary engagement with the 
two languages themselves. The literature can provide students 
with opportunities to widen and deepen their understanding 
and appreciation of their own culture and to extend that 
sensitivity on a global scale to other peoples and their 
cultures.
