| Las dos vertientes generales del aprendizaje en psicología, llamadas conductismo y cognitivismo han orientado, de momento, el sistema educativo. Con los tremendos y polifacéticos cambios y demandas del nuevo milenio, es un momento propicio para infundir nuevas inspiraciones en la educación en general, y en la enseñanza de una segunda lengua extranjera en particular. Así pues, este artículo reconsidera el conductismo y el cognitivismo desde puntos de vista filosóficos y teóricos, intentando mostrar que una teoría no excluye a la otra. Este hecho justifica la introducción de una nueva teoría del aprendizaje, a saber, el constructivismo en el área del aprendizaje de una segunda lengua (o lengua extranjera). | The two general learning streams in psychology, namely behaviorism and cognitivism, have so far provided the agenda for the education system. With the tremendous and multi-faceted changes and demands of the new millenium, it is a propitious time to infuse fresh inspirations into the education in general and second/foreign language education in particular. Thus, this article reconsiders behaviorism and cognitivism on philosophical and theoretical grounds, attempting to show that the two theories are not removed from each other. This fact justifies the introduction of a new learning theory, i.e., constructivism in the area of second/foreign language learning. |
